Marching to the beat of your own drum
Even as a child, Kim stood up for what she believed in. In Fifth grade, she sent a colorful letter to the President, protesting a television show depicting a character throwing a cat in the dryer. She felt that animal cruelty was something that should not be shown as a way of passing the time. Weeks later, she received a reply from the President. It encouraged her activism, but stated that it was unable to remove the show from the air. This was the beginning of her passion for caring about others and trying to make a difference.

During college, she volunteered with non profits working on event production, music, art, and helping  children. After graduating, she became interested in environmental issues. It was a warm winter day that set her off, while taking back recycling in middle December, she found it irritating and ironic that she wasn’t wearing a coat. That evening she sent an email to everyone in her address book encouraging recycling and questioning humankind on social and environmental injustices.

After sending that email, Kim became the Director of an environmental non-profit. She found that this was the perfect thread that tied all of her passions together. She is now able to use events as a way to bring people together and educate them about the environment through hands-on activities, speakers, and presentations. She continues to volunteer, and hopes to be the Director of her own non-profit, educating children about the environment through music, art, and theatre.
