This mural is part of the Arts Center of the Capital Region “From Troy to Troy” public art project.

This mural is meant to be a reminder of our interconnectedness to each other and the Earth. In an ever-divided world, we can look to nature for beauty and inspiration. Trees support our lungs, birds sing the songs from our hearts and the ground we walk on is full of a constellation of microbes that breathe life into the soil. We aren’t just surrounded by plants, we are part of nature and everything is connected. This installation is painted in a way for the viewer to be drawn to look through the window, not only viewing the piece from the outside but imagining breathing between these spaces. Blacklight-responsive paint allows the painting to glow from within, a playful reminder of our own inner light. Holographic sparkles remind us that we are mirrors of each other and that we can always inspire each other to shine.

The intention for this piece is to create a moment where one will pause and not only look at the bright colors or flora but look within and hear the conversations of our hearts and think of our larger belonging to one another. It is an invitation to dream of possibility and abundance for all. 🦋
